Questions
Regarding Cakes:
Q.
What areas do you deliver to?
A.
We mainly deliver wedding cakes in Wiltshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire
and Berkshire. We will also set up your wedding cake to display
it to it's full potential if you require. If you live
outside these areas, please contact
us for further details.
Q.
Can you deliver cakes to us by courier?
A.
Unfortunately, due to the very fragile nature of handmade celebration
cakes, we no longer deliver cakes via courier, as we cannot
guarantee they will arrive in same perfect condition they leave.
Q.
Can I collect the cake from you?
A.
Yes all cakes can be collected from our Company in Pewsey, Wiltshire.
See the "Contacts"
page for details.
Q.
Do you supply cake bases or stands?
A.
We can supply cake bases and stands free, a deposit of £40
is required for bases and £85 for stands but this will
be returned to you when the base or stand is returned to us
undamaged.
Q.
Can I have any tiers of my wedding cake made in sponge?
A.
Your wedding cake can be all fruit, all sponge or a combination
of both. Any sponge tiers can be plain, lemon or chocolate sponge
etc. If you require a mixture of fruit and sponge cakes,
we would normally make the bottom cake tier from fruit and the
others from sponge due to the weight of the fruit tier.
Q.
How long have you been creating cakes?
A.
Our Sugarcraft Guild trained
personnel have been making cakes for over twenty years, in fact,
only a small sample of our cakes are shown on this website.
Q.
Do you use a cake mix for either your fruit or sponge cakes?
A.
No we never use any prepared mixes, we mix each cake individually
to our own special recipes, whether fruit or sponge and use
separate ingredients.
Q.
I don't like certain ingredients in fruit based wedding cakes,
can some of these be left out?
A.
Yes as our wedding fruit cakes are mixed individually and are
not prepared mixes we can add or omit anything you do or do
not like.
Q.
Do you provide cakes that are "Nut-Free" or "Gluten-Free"
A.
Yes, in fact we provide a full ingredients list with all the
cakes we provide for allergy sufferers.
Q.
How far in advance do I need to order a wedding cake?
A.
We prefer at least three months notice for ordering a wedding
cake which contains any fruit tiers and a minimum of six weeks
notice for all sponge tiers. We understand that sometimes people
get let down by their cake decorator so we keep a supply for
short notice orders also.
Q.
Do I have to order one of the cake designs from your website?
A.
Not at all, we pride ourselves on designing unique, individual
cakes and can create the cake of your dreams incorporating your
colour scheme, ideas and wishes, just call to discuss details
with no obligation.
Q.
I like a particular cake on your website but would like it a
different shape or colour, Is this possible?
A.
Yes your cake can be any shape or colour you wish.
Q.
Will you decorate cakes made by other people?
A.
Yes, we are more than happy to just decorate a sponge or fruit
cake that has been made by yourself, a relative or friend.
Q.
Do you make cakes that can be served instead of the Wedding
Cake as I would like to keep this on display during my reception?
A.
Yes, we supply "cutting cakes" for this purpose, which
can be served at the Wedding Breakfast leaving the main cake
as a focal point. These cakes are covered in white almond
paste and icing to match the main cake.
Q.
Approximately how may portions do I get, dependant upon the
cake size?
A. The following tables provide a guide for square and round
cakes to help estimate the number of portions a cake will yield
(all numbers are approximate).

Questions
Regarding Catering:
Q.
In what counties do you provide your catering services?
A. We operate in Wiltshire, Hampshire, Berkshire & Oxfordshire.
Q.
What kind of events do you cater for?
A. We cater for a wide variety of events, including
both corporate and private functions. Corporate events
include company celebrations & anniversaries, charity balls,
staff celebrations, product launches, seminars and training
days etc. Private functions can include birthdays, wedding parties,
funerals and christenings etc.
Q.
What is the difference between Finger / Fork Buffets, &
Serviced Events?
A. Finger Buffets - This
is food that can be eaten without the need for knifes, forks
or spoons. It is delivered and left with you shortly before
the time of eating. The food is typically delivered on
heavily chilled, returnable or disposable flats.
Fork Buffets - This is food that is eaten
with the aid of knifes, forks and spoons. A few selected
menus may be delivered and left with you shortly before the
time of eating. However usually staff are required to prepare,
serve and clear. Fork buffets on a large scale provide an attractive
focal point to any occasion. With more than one point of service,
continual replenishment of dishes and a wider variety of main
course items - a fork buffet lends itself well to events where
the particular eating requirements of guests is unknown.
Serviced Events - The most
formal where we provide some level of personnel waiter service
from a Carvery style buffet, where we serve some or all of the
dishes, through to silver service, where we serve each person
individually.
Q.
How do I choose a menu?
A.
For buffets, you can either select from one of the Finger
Buffet or Fork Buffet
sample menus, or use these as a guide to help create your own
by using our Wessex Selections
Menus. If you would like us to create a menu for you,
then simply advise the type of event you are holding, along
with an approximate budget and number of guests and we will
create a tailor-made menu for you.
For
serviced events, we normally create a bespoke menu, since the
food, location, facilities and style of service are unique to
each event. Please contact
us to discuss your specific requirements via phone or email.
Q.
Do you cater for special dietary requirements?
A.
In short yes. We provide alternative dishes for vegetarians,
vegans, diabetics and guests with allergies etc. We do of course
require advance notice of your specific requirements.
Q.
Can you provide meals for children?
A.
You can rest assured that the children will be well catered
for with child friendly food and service. Please inform us of
child numbers in advance.
Q.
Can you provide a bar or drinks service?
A. Although we are unable to provide a licensed bar service
at your venue we can serve alcoholic drinks provided by you
or recommend who can provide this service. Providing your own
drinks is a great way of reducing your costs.
Q.
What are the minimum or maximum numbers you cater for?
A.
No event is too large or too small. We have a number of service
teams and these resources are utilised as required for the larger
functions. We cater for large corporate events and also for
intimate dinner parties at home for as few as four.
Q.
Can you provide tableware & glassware?
A.

A reasonable hire charge will be made for this service. Alternatively
we can utilise the tableware available from your venue if you
prefer.
